HILL HALL (3 miles east of Epping at Theydon Mount) 
Elizabeth I was entertained here and it is thought to be where Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream had its first performance.  
English Heritage opens the mansion and grounds during the year. Details of dates and times for individuals and groups can be obtained from English Heritage. 
 
COPPED HALL historic ruin  
Cultural events take place within this Tudor mansion with plans to open new rooms for future use. Probably has the largest walled garden in Essex. Restoration in progress by Copped Hall Trust. 
 
LEE VALLEY PARK and Walthamstow Marshes 
Campsites, heritage sites, cycling, walking, white water rafting, ice skating, horse riding, nature reserves and wide open spaces.
